It’s September and I’m feeling kinda sad. Summer’s pretty much over, fall is just around the corner, the kids are back in school, everyone’s back from vacation. But if you’ve lived around here for any length of time you know that this time of year, September and October, is really our summer.
Summer around here tends to be foggy and cool, but September is usually pretty warm, at least after the fog clears away. It can be cool and foggy when we take our morning walk with Mom, but by early afternoon, the sun comes out and makes us bulldogs a little lazy, if you know what I mean.
And speaking of lazy, September 4 is National Lazy Mom’s Day, so we’re going to help Mom have a lazy day by letting her sleep in, making her breakfast, doing her chores, maybe we’ll even walk ourselves! We may need some help from our aunties for some of those things. Mom kinda frowns on us messing around in the kitchen!
And besides, September 13th is National Kids Take Over The Kitchen Day. Maybe they should combine the two days, it would be more efficient.
Another thing kinda making me sad is that September has a lot of food days, which is a good thing (although I’m having my doubts about Acorn Squash Day, September 7), but not a lot of dog days.
I know, I know, these ARE the dogs days, but there aren’t many good days, like Give Your Dog Anything He Wants Day, that sort of thing.
There’s only National Hug Your Hound Day (September 19), Responsible Dog Ownership Day (September 22) and AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day (September 23), but shouldn’t every day be Responsible Dog Ownership Day? It is around our house!
Oh, and there’s something called National Checkers/Dogs in Politics Day (September 23), which seems a little odd. I’m not much into politics because I can’t vote. Maybe that should be a national day too, Dog Voting Day!
I mean there’s National Ants on a Log Day (Sept. 8) National Crush a Can Day (September 27) and International Dot Day (September 15), why not more dog days? It wouldn’t hurt to have a Love Your French Bulldog Day would it? Or even a week or a month would be even better!
But the most important day in September may just be September, which is not only 11 Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, but Stand Up To Cancer Day.
Now those are some days I get can get behind. I guess the bottom line is make the most of the time you have here and enjoy every day. Have a great September!
